Summer foods are definitely our favorite foods. Between ANYTHING grilled, summer vegetables, and fresh farm picked fruits, no other season compares.
During the summer months, Salsa Fresca is our go-to delicious summer snack. It is pretty inexpensive and really easy to make. This recipe is also great because it can be adjusted and varied to your tastes and preferences. You can add more of one thing and cut out another completely and it will still be delicious.
Our Go-To Ingredients:
4 – 6 medium tomatoes
2 medium onions
1/2 – 3/4 cup of cilantro
**Lemon or Lime juice
**Frank’s Red Hot sauce (or your own favorite hot sauce)
**you can add as much or as little as you’d like of these. Its all preference and how juicy you want your salsa fresca to be. However, we say, the more the better.
Directions:
The directions for this recipe are pretty basic, anyone can prepare it.
Dice the tomatoes and onions. Chop the cilantro. Combine. Add about 3 seconds worth of pouring of the lemon or lime juice. Add about 20 shakes of Frank’s Red Hot. Stir and enjoy. I recommend refrigerating for about and hour or two. With time, the juices and flavors blend together more. The taste definitely gets better with time.
(ALSO keep eyeballing how much you cut so you don’t end up with more than you can eat. Having to throw this beautiful concoction is a sin!)
