On a recent weekend visiting friends in Brooklyn I stayed in Williamsburg and didn’t have much time for elaborate dinners. That resulted in some epic Thai takeout, which I was surprised to find all over the area.
Here is a short look at two spots I tried out for the first time and would definitely go back again.
Qi Thai Grill (176 N 9th St, Brooklyn)
For a late night dinner, I went with the Spicy Beef Mango Salad. The dish description of “grilled herb-marinated beef, lemongrass, roasted jasmine rice, scallions, cilantro and mint leaves w/ tamarind dressing” was too intriguing to pass up on.
Not to mention, Qi also offers an infused cocktail menu featuring their signature drink: Krungthepmahanakhon Amornrattanakosin Mahintharayutthaya Mahadilokphop Noppharat Ratchathaniburirom Udomratchaniwetmahasathan Amonphiman Awatansathit Sakkathattiyawitsanukamprasit.
Yes, that’s all one word and is named after the ancient term for Bangkok.
M Noodle Shop (549 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn)
For lunch, I went with N6 — the Double Pan Fried Noodle with chicken. The dish was great and I haven’t had many meals with crunchy noodles and vegetables before. I’m always tempted to try something new on the menu that I’ve never eaten before.
The little spot was across the street from a friend’s apartment in Brooklyn and was super convenient to swing by, pick up a hot meal and enjoy back at home. And with Chrysanthemum tea listed on the menu, I’m going to have to make it make to give it a try.
